I say MEGA EXPERIENCE because school age children is my environment 80% of the year! I am in my 21st year as an educator. I have taught English grammar, writing, reading, journalism, and mythology grades 8-12 for 13 years. For the past eight years, I have served as an assistant principal; 7 at high school and now in second year at an elementary school. I also have two children, a 15 yo daughter, and a 18 yo son who is a freshman at UGA. I have degrees in English and Educational Leadership up the Specialist level. I am gifted endorsed and currently pursuing Math endorsement levels K-5. Through my experience with my son, I have a deep understanding of SAT, ACT, and college entrance requirements. So as you can see, my summers- June and 3/4 of July- are normally spent "off." So why am I considering being a nanny in Read more SSI? It's a bit of a wild idea BUT if the right situation presented itself I could bring a GREAT DEAL to a family, learn a lot in the process, and create a unique summer experience for myself in the most beautiful place on Earth! So what could I bring? I WON'T try to bring what I see 80% of the year in four wall of the classroom BUT provide opportunities for learning during everyday summer fun activities: pool, reading, kayaking (ok, something I'm dying to do more of!!), journal writing, college tours (I love them!), games, adventures, discovery of self! Ok, I know a little too "sweet" sounding but I'm serious. Summer is a precious time and I love to see kids enjoy it vs. buried in phones...unless we use them to go geocaching! So, I've got some time this summer, I want to live in SSI (we have property but it will likely be rented out most of the time), and I could be a great companion (I mean I'm 44 so "nanny" sounds ridiculous!) for your precious child. And since I am "mature," I am MEGA protective of children, there isn't much I haven't seen, heard, etc. We'll see what happens.
