From 2016-2018, while in college, I worked for a company called College Sitter Contact (similar to sittercity, care.com, etc.) that linked families with babysitters or nannies depending on their needs. I babysat for 30+ families and eventually nannied for five of those families. During the same time I was working at a daycare called Kiddie Konnection where I was one of two preschool teachers. We took turns creating monthly curriculum and cared for a class of ten 3-year-olds. In 2018 my partner got the opportunity to move to California to clean up the Paradise Wildfires and I moved with him. While he was doing that I worked in a daycare in Chico. Unfortunately, the clean-up job was cut short and we didn't want to go back home so we moved to Sacramento which has been our home for the last two years! In March 2019 I started working at a Read more school for people ages 3-22 with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Here our goal is to help these individuals gain independence by implementing ABA therapy techniques, following IEPs and Behavior Intervention Plans, and teaching functional communication and life skills. I recently received a promotion and now supervise a classroom of 5-7 staff and 12 students, work hand in hand with the teacher to create academic and behavioral lessons, materials and activities (art/music, sensory play, fine motor, cooking, etc.) for the school day, and now due to Covid-19, create individualized homework packets for each student based on their IEP goals.
