I am a recent graduate of the University of Iowa, where I earned a degree in Ethics and Public Policy with minors in English and Psychology. While I have spent my college career in Iowa City, I am a native Chicagoan. I am just shy of 22 years old (my birthday is in February). As an older sibling to a sister five years my junior, my baby-sitting experience began when my parents would ask me to watch her while they went out. However, in the years since, I have gained much more experience in childcare, in a more professional setting. I have been a day camp counselor for the past five summers, working with kids as young as 4 and as old as 10 and 11, though I spent most of my time working with kids aged 5-7. I also have a lot of experience babysitting for kids in my Read more neighborhood and kids from camp (and their younger/older siblings), which even further varies the age groups I am comfortable with. I have cared for children as young as infants and as old as about 12 or so. I also have experience working with kids in a semi-educational setting. I spent last spring in Washington, D.C. as part of an internship program, and while I was there I mentored and tutored 6th grade boys in math at the SEED School. I have also participated in the Iowa Youth Writing Project here in Iowa City, where I engaged kindergarteners and first-graders in creative writing, song-writing, art-making, etc. I am outgoing, active, fun, and energetic person. Pets are definitely a bonus. I am a self-proclaimed dog enthusiast (my family has 2 of them back in Chicago), I can do housework (i.e. laundry, meal prep, etc.), and, most importantly, I absolutely love being around and caring for children.
