Growing up in Idaho I naturally became an outdoor enthusiast. At the beginning of my college career at Boise State, I was introduced to rock climbing and have turned a hobby into a lifetime sport. With that came backpacking and peak bagging; balancing my lifestyle with skiing/snowboarding in the winter. I actively pursued a degree in Secondary Education, orienting my life around this choice. This ultimately led to working as an AVID tutor for the Boise Public School System, as well as a camp counselor for Boise Parks and Rec. After graduating with degrees in Archaeology and History (emphasis of secondary ed) I stumbled upon a job as a Wilderness Therapy Guide. This combined my love for outdoor pursuits and education with a newly discovered knack for fostering personal and emotional growth within youth. As a Wilderness Therapy Guide I honed my communication skills, learned to work with defiant teens, Read more mastered survival skills (tarp-shelter building, bow-drilling fires), and nurtured a passion for helping youth discover their own potential. I learned to work in high-stress situations and mastered leadership as I was in charge of up to two co-staff and 12 students for 15 day shifts. This same position helped me renew my First Aid and CPR licensing, as well as a obtain a Non-Violent Child Intervention license. Over a year later, I'm in search of a new career, landing me back at Boise State to begin courses towards a Bachelors of Science in Nursing.
