My name is Erika and I would like to use my skills and knowledge of early childhood education, along with my experience in working and collaborating with families, to find an opportunity to provide an important service to a loving family as a nanny. With over 10 years of early childhood experience, I have worked in a wide range of settings from private daycare centers to corporate and non-profit early learning centers. I earned a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Roosevelt University, where I also earned an IL Type 04 Teaching Certificate with a Special Education Endorsement. I gained a great deal of knowledge in the development of children from birth to 12 years of age throughout my career, and developed the ability to collaborate with parents and families in order to provide the highest quality care for individual children. When working and collaborating with families, I listen Read more and respect their parenting philosophy; I feel that partnering with parents is the best way to help a child grow and develop in a healthy manner. I am a responsible, passionate, and detail-orientated educator who always has the children’s best interest at heart. As an assistant director of an early learning center with over 198 children and 100+ families, I made sure that I learned every child’s name, allergies, special diets, dislikes, likes, and so much more. I have developed the skills to be flexible, to adapt to change and to always clearly communicate with parents in order to best help children develop and grow in a healthy manner. As an infant teacher at Bright Horizons I recognized that every child grew and developed at their own rate. I find that being flexible and adaptable is the best way to ensure that every minute is a positive learning experience for a child. I believe that open two-way communication with parents is crucial. While my expertise is in infant care, I have vast experience working with children from birth to 12 years of age. Additional skills I have are the ability to speak, read and write Spanish, and basic baby signing. I attend many workshops and trainings yearly in order to stay up to date on current best practices including renewing my Pediatric First Aid CPR AED certification routinely. At this time I wish to return to work with children on a one-on-one basis, as doing so has always been my true calling. I look forward to having the opportunity to work with a loving family and their amazing child(ren).
