I am a kindergarten teacher assistant, an avid writer, editor, and spoken word poet. I received a Bachelor of Arts in Creative Writing and have extensively studied literature and English. While I am very active in the improvement of writing technique, I am also very interested in medicine and the sciences. I have worked as a research assistant in exercise, technology, and cognition labs. Currently, I am pursuing an accelerated Bachelor's degree in Nursing. This is why I have experience in many different subjects and learning styles. I really believe in metacognition (learning about the way we learn). I have found that I personally focus best when I am able to listen (auditory learning) and take notes (kinesthetic component), removing any visual stimuli that may confuse me. I think that this should be understood by every caregiver and child. This way learning takes an individualized approach. I currently work as Read more a Kindergarten Teacher Assistant at Lincoln Elementary School, where I have gained experience tutoring children from K-5th grade. Working in a school system has given me access to children of many different ages that have different learning styles (including children with cerebral palsy). In addition to this, I have gained experience tutoring students and editing writing from students in high-school, 4-year college, and adults in 2-year college. As a caregiver, I believe in creating an educational and fun environment. I acknowledge the importance of all subjects of study (from the arts to the sciences).
