As the third daughter in a family of five children, I have had many experiences caring for children of all ages. When I was ten years old, my youngest sibling was born, and when I was 18, just before I went away to college, my nephew was born. My sister's family lived at home for a year before they were able to afford a house. So I would frequently help take care of my nephew. Also during junior high and high school, I found great joy in babysitting for various families. It was an occupation that I sorely missed while studying elementary education at college. I have taken many courses on the development and the unique challenges of childhood.
