Hello! My name is Duana and I have been a child caregiver since 2005. Growing up I enjoyed tending to my younger brother and other small children that my mother took care of in her day care. I love children, especially babies, and have always had an interest in taking care of small children, particularly those with special needs. My first nanny position was with twin babies and their older brother who had mild Asperger's. It was so much fun being able to play with them, figure out how they learned, and assist their mother with any chores that needed done around the house. I love to serve! The youngest child that I nannied for began when she was 3 months old, and it was a joy to watch her grow up and be a part of her life for two years. I have babysat for numerous families throughout my Read more life and am hoping to continue in my new home of Chicago. I have also worked as a caregiver and teacher for pre-school aged children. The first time was at a PreSchool for the Arts, and second, as a private tutor - I taught art, music, and drama. During my time as a tutor I also was given the amazing opportunity of starting a drama class wherein I taught basic elements of theatre, acting, and a little bit of Shakespeare to a group of about 15 kids, ages 2-16. I also enjoy volunteering my time in the nurseries at church and in Sunday School. I was a member of the Girl Scouts of America for 16 years. I have worked extensively with the Special Olympics, volunteering my time during walks, dances, and even the Winter World Olympics! I have taken a handful of missions trips, from Mexico to China, and have had the great opportunity to spend time teaching, watching, and playing with small children. I have taken multiple classes in first-aid and CPR, and should have my CPR Certification renewed soon. As stated before, I love to serve, and it is a joy for me to not only care for children but to do what I can to make life easier for parents as well.
