I am a Beloit College graduate. My studies focused on Sociology, Gender Studies, and Studio Arts. I am a Chicago native. I am fluent in Spanish and intermediate in Portuguese. Growing up I spent tons of time around many children, ranging from my family to friends. As a young teen I started babysitting family members and family friends. During my high school years I did occasional babysitting as well. In High School I also started working with elementary school kids in different volunteer and work opportunities varying from art camp counselor to mentor/tutor. During college I spent time teaching GED classes to 18-24 year olds. I also co-taught art electives and reading classes to kids ranging from ages 5 to 16 in different charter schools in Wisconsin. During college I also worked as a Peer Mentor for college freshmen; helping them navigate their new surroundings. After graduating college I worked Read more as a tutor coordinator at two different Madison elementary schools in Wisconsin. There I worked with kids ranging from 4k- 5th focusing on math and literacy. I spent two summers working as a a Dual Language Immersion assistant teacher for 4-5 year olds in preparation for their first academic year. Specific trainings and orientations were attended for each position. Here in Chicago I worked as a substitute preschool teacher, and daycare caregiver; I worked with children ranging from 6 weeks old to 6 years old. This past school year I taught English abroad in Spain, to high school aged children. Most recently I just got back from working for a month at an English summer camp in Italy with 7 and 8 year olds. These experiences, along with spending time abroad in different countries, has given me a priceless insight into working with and being around children. I come with a lot of enthusiasm, responsibility, and a genuine interest in children, education and art.
