I am 26, married, and the oldest of two children. As the older sister of a special-needs child, I learned at an early age the importance of love, patience and consistency to help children thrive. I have always had a passion for working with infants and young children. I started out in middle school as a mother's helper and babysitter for friends and neighbors. As I gained more experience, I worked as a nanny for various families in the northern suburbs of Chicago while in junior high and high school. Whether preparing meals, helping with homework, actively engaging with children or helping clean up messes, I have always had a reputation for being responsible and great with kids. After graduating high school, I attended Illinois State University where I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Human and Child Development and Family Relations. While at school I had the opportunity Read more to volunteer at the university childcare on campus where I planned and conducted developmentally appropriate activities and lessons for toddlers. I am currently employed as a teen parent educator where I am actively involved with young mothers from the early stages of pregnancy through the first three years of their child’s life. Using my training in Parents as Teachers curriculum, I helped parents increase their knowledge of child development, enhance parent-child bonds, and strengthen parenting skills. After working with parents and young children, I have realized how crucial love, patience, consistency, routines and discipline are for children to be successful. I am CPR and first aid certified by the American Red Cross Association and also trained in Parents as Teachers curriculum. I am a hands-on person who enjoys cooking/baking, crafts, and the outdoors. I am also very organized, forward-thinking, and I love bringing new and exciting activities and crafts for the children I work with to make learning fun. I am looking for a fun, loving family to share my creativity and enthusiasm with and hope that I can use my caring personality and experience to bring smiles to your children's faces and help your family grow.
