I am an energetic and adventurous individual with 15+ years of childcare experience. I began babysitting for family members and neighbors at a young age and then cared for a 6-month old until she was 5 during undergrad at the University of Illinois of Chicago. I am ESL certified after teaching English to K-12 students outside of Bangkok, Thailand for three years. I was given the unique opportunity to tutor in the homes of five different families during that time. Upon my return from Thailand, I was a fellow at a school in Moshi, Tanzania where I taught primary-aged students and developed a student-centered curriculum with the school's administration. When I decided to move back to the US in 2014, I moved to San Francisco with two luggage and no plan. Within a few days, I began nannying full-time for a family of three boys aged 4-13. This was definitely Read more a huge change from my life abroad, but it became one of my greatest learning experiences and adventures. After two years of pickups, homework, and adventures throughout city parks I began grad school in Human Rights Education and a full-time career in nonprofit. As a teacher and former nanny, I have learned to be flexible and patient with each child. I always enforce rules, routine and respect but believe it is important to engage children and give them space to be creative and explore their interests. Establishing a good rapport and trust with children has always brought me joy. I am kind, responsible and I've been told by a child or two that I'm quite funny. I am happy to help with homework, planning activities and am open to light cooking. I love hikes, parks, speaking Spanish, podcasts, making soup, and playing with my nephews. I hope that I can bring families some much-needed support, a sense of routine and human connection during this time.
