Hello, I have over 5 years of experience working with children (infant to 8 years old to be exact). I am a graduate from Columbia College Chicago, with an Early Childhood Education (ECE) degree so I have worked in both homes and schools. I became a caregiver because I grew up in a small community in Costa Rica ( I speak Spanish perfectly) where there was little to no early childhood schooling. My mother did most of my early childhood education. I was thus keen about one day bringing back knowledge and experience to my hometown and starting a preschool of my own (which I have already started! yay!). There are many reasons I love working with families and children but most of all it is lovely to work in an environment where the image of the child is respected, valued and cared for. I strongly believe that children's rights Read more need to be respected and that love and care are fundamental practices to apply when working with children and their families. I also love the process of getting to know a child, seeing them grow and be a part of that amazing experience. What makes me good at my job is not only the experience and graduate knowledge that I have but also my attentive skills (organization and detail oriented skills), my energy, my creativity when working alongside children and my warm positive personality.
