Hello! My name is Sarah Schaefer and I am from outside of Philadelphia. I am 26 years old and have just obtained my Masters in French Literature at the University of Illinois at Chicago. I am hoping to find a family that needs a bilingual nanny/babysitter for the summer. I have been babysitting since I was a teenager, but more recently, I worked as a full-time, live-in nanny for my sister when she had her first child back in 2014. I lived with their family for 3/4 of a year and watched my niece from when she was 3 months old to one year old, so I have a lot of experience with infants. Additionally, I worked at a charter school in Wilmington, DE from Aug 2015-June 2016 through AmeriCorps where I worked as a full-time tutor and teaching assistant to sixth graders (between 11 and 13 years old). I Read more tutored two different groups made up of four students each, and I also assisted the writing teacher. Under her tutelage, I devised lesson plans and executed those lessons on occasion. These past two years at UIC, I worked as a graduate student instructor for the Department of French. In my first semester, I taught one section of French 101, two sections in my second semester, and two sections of French 103 in my third semester. My students there ranged from 18 years old to mid-40s. My various babysitting, nannying, and teaching experiences have been undoubtedly the most rewarding experiences of my life. I find true joy in working with children of all ages, and I especially love teaching. Philadelphia is such a great place to nanny since there are endless things to do for fun!
