Meet Rachel

  • Comfortable with pets

Hi, my name is Rachel and I am a Psychological Therapist in the Child Psychiatry Department at Lurie Children's Hospital in downtown Chicago. As a child-care professional at Lurie Children's, I am educated and trained in the best ways to keep your children safe and healthy, all while encouraging their development and cognitive/behavioral skills, all while having fun along the way! Because my position is part-time, I have also been nannying in the Lincoln Park area over the past year and I am eager to continue this work over the coming months! I am a recent graduate of Northwestern University where I majored in psychological services and child development. I've been living in Lincoln Park for approximately 6 months and I am eager to continue babysitting in this new community!I have been a Red-Cross certified babysitter since I was 12. I have been babysitting since I was 11, for a Read more range of families; some with twins, infants, teens, pets, sick children, playdates, you name it. The largest family I have dealt with is 6 children, all of whom are only 1-2 years apart! I helped raise both of the youngest from the day they were born, and I have seen every range of child-problems from sickness to homework help to boyfriend trouble to wanting their parents, and as an aspiring children's psychologist, I enjoy every minute of it. Throughout college I volunteered with children in a variety of ways, the most prominent areas being my Religious Education teaching for 1st graders, working in orphanages and schools in Ghana and Romania, and volunteering monthly at my local YMCA! Please feel free to contact me anytime for additional questions! My current position is part-time, leaving me lots of flexibility with my schedule. Please take a look at my profile, or feel free to reach me at rmsurprenant@gmail.com anytime. Thank you for your time and I hope to hear from you soon!
