My name is Henrietta Spinks. I am 58 years old and I love children. I have been in childcare in an employment capacity for 7 years. However, as the mother of two and the grandmother of four, I am more than familiar and comfortable with children of all ages. I spent a year and a half as a nanny for a single mom and her daughter. Her employment situation changed and she could no longer use my services. I loved my time working for them. I loved taking her daughter places, helping her with her homework and engaging her in age-appropriate activities. I engaged her daughter in activities such as reading, cooking and mastering the art of spelling. I then began working for a family and their 2 daughters. The daughters were 3 and 5. Thanks to their membership to places such as the children's museum and the zoo, we Read more had a lot of fun during the summer and plenty to do during the fall, including apple picking and pumpkin patches. Unfortunately, the family decided to pursue Montessori School for their youngest a year into my employment and, therefore, would no longer be able to retain my services. I spent two years as a preschool teacher for Catholic Charities. While working for them I acquired my CDA (Child Development Associate Credential), which is becoming the standard for all childcare professionals. I also have a Bachelor’s degree in Applied Behavioral Science from National Louis- University. I am trained in areas of nutrition, developmental assessment, age-appropriate activities as well as redirection and discipline. I am looking to become a nanny again, because, at this stage in my life, I have a lot of love to give to a child and would love to do so, on a one-on-one basis. Reading is a fundamental part of how I structure a child’s day. I also enjoy the fine arts. I am more than happy to make them a part of your child’s everyday life. I am looking for a family to become a part of as well as to make a part of mine.
