Hi! My name is Kelly O'Brien and I'm 25 years old [received both doses of COVID vaccine] and have been working/[playing with kids!] since I was a kid, myself. I've been babysitting since I was about 12 years old - to be honest I started as a "mommy's helper" as a fifth grader babysitting a 3 year old little boy so that his mom got some things done around the house :) I have always loved playing with kids, seeing the world through their eyes, and watching them learn and grow. I've babysat as much as I could growing up, nannied during the summers, and even continued throughout college. I met a few families and I babysat for their kids and became close with (and still keep in touch with:) while I was in college in South Bend at Saint Mary's. I got my Bachelor's in Psychology and then moved Read more back home to Downers Grove after graduating, but wasn't sure what I wanted to do. I ended up working as an Infant Teacher at a daycare with babies 6 weeks-8 months for about a year. I then nannied for a little and was still unsure of what to do with my degree, until I found my current job. Currently, I work as a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) doing Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) with children on the Autism Spectrum, so I provide behavioral therapy one-on-one with kids ranging in age from 4-16 years old. After finding this job and absolutely falling in love with the field, I immediately enrolled at Ball State University where I am currently working towards my Master's in Applied Behavior Analysis with an Emphasis in Autism. After this, I plan to study to earn my BCBA (Board Certified Behavior Analyst) to hopefully become a behavior analyst, to design programs and assess progress instead of the therapist working one-on-one with kids. I'm also working part time as a respite worker, meaning I am paired with a kiddo that sees a different therapist who has created various goals to work on in the community -- I am able to work on these goals with them outside in the community. I do this part time and since COVID, I am essentially "on-call" to provide support to my client virtually on the phone rather than more frequent face-to-face services. I will be moving to the Lincoln Park area in August and work in the suburbs during the week in Naperville area. I am always looking to meet new families and babysit to give parents a break on the weekends/evenings when I am available :
