I have been babysitting for friends and family since I was 12 and have been around kids of all ages whether it be coaching riser-level lacrosse, serving tables of pee wee sports players at the local family pub, or taking my youngest brother (we are twelve years apart) out everywhere I can. I am an extremely active person so outings to playgrounds, bowling, playing sports, painting pottery, movies, mini golfing, or just getting food is up my alley. What brings my activity down a bit is my major in English and the reading I also love to do in my free time. So, as far as children go, I get along with pretty much every kid I have ever met. Having both my parents work for the majority of my youth has lead me to conclude that kids need someone to provide them with fun and entertainment, but also guide Read more them with their thinking. For example, I took my young cousins (three adorable girls) out over this winter. After sledding we moved onto Noodles and Company for some much needed fuel to keep the h-anger away. One of my cousins has a severe nut and seed allergy, so I made sure the staff knew to prepare all her food without coming into contact with either. The other desperately wanted a cookie, but I knew that her dad (my uncle) wouldn't approve of the sugar intake. I also knew she is a pretty finicky eater and would need some encouraging to finish her meal (no matter how small). So, in compromise I allowed her the option of half a cookie if she finished her meal. The third cousin is smooth sailing and super low maintenance so overall we had fun and ate our greens all at the same time! Other than my love for kids, I was CPR certified during my younger babysitting days (I will be getting this renewed May 3rd). Though I know this is completely on its own level and not directly related to kids, I have raised my own puppy while attending full time college and part time jobs at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. If anything, this taught me to get over any fear of poop I had (messes are made when dogs (and kids!) get sick) and taught me the virtue of patience. If anything, patience is something you can never had too much of! In fact, patience makes life brighter. In addition to all this, I follow any and all guidelines that are given to me to the best of my ability. I want to be a nanny because I took the opportunity to study and intern in Sydney this Spring and absolutely fell in love with life here; I am working to return in Oct. after I graduate May11th
