I have been working with children for almost ten years now. When I was young, I always enjoyed helping my mother and others with the smaller children. As I got older, having the patience and know how just kind of came easy to me. When, I was in high school(Proviso West in Hillside, IL) I was in the National Honor Society and played several sports. I would take the younger girls under my wing, and show them the ropes. I spent at least 8 summers as a day camp counselor for Veterans Park District (Northlake). Over the years I worked with groups of children from age 6-13. Also, had the chance to work with a few behavorial challenges and children wirh disabilities. Many of the older children looked up to me so much that some of them returned at a later age to join as a counselor themselves. In the Read more past 3 years I worked for 2 different day care/preschools as a Teacher's Assistant. I was at Early Learner's(Melrose Park) for a year, and then got hired to work at Veterans Park's preschool program the past 2 years. I've been a nanny for two different families. The first family had 2 children under the age of 3, and the second I was a live-in for a 4-5 year old. I've been trained several times over the years in first aid and CPR and I've taken online courses in Health & Wellness, food prep, and Inclusion. Aside from tooting my own horn, I believe I am a very well rounded person, willing to work with needs of children as well as their guardians. I am very open minded, and understanding. I believe in structure but I love to incorporate fun activities and crafts! I'm not a 5 star chef, but I can cook! If there are any questions about my previous history, or anything at all feel free to ask away! 😊 I do think I must add, I currently smoke cigarettes, however I have never brought it around my workplace. Everybody has their own personal preference, it it ultimately the families decision on whether I am allowed to have it around and I would respect their wishes.
