I recently graduated from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and I am looking for a stable position to help pay off student loans. I will have a very flexible schedule until I begin grad school for my Master's in Social Work which is not until next fall, 2014, at Loyola University Chicago. At that point, I will just have to work with the family to decide when to schedule classes. For the past three and a half years I worked as a part-time nanny for a family with two boys, one with Autism and one with PTSD from cancer. I was responsible for a variety of things around the house from light cooking and cleaning, laundry, and running errands. I occasionally worked in the morning when necessary to get the kids off to school but I usually worked after school hours and picked them up from school. Depending on the night, Read more I was responsible for tutoring, feeding, bathing and entertaining the kids. Occasionally we hosted play dates and I was also available when the parents went out of town. The most rewarding thing was developing a relationship with the family and truly getting to know the kids. Being able to relate to them, find new ways to communicate and socialize with them and see them happy and smiling was always a joy. I look forward to getting to know another family.
