Hello! My name is Shannon. My experience as a caregiver started as a 6 year old when I became a big sister. I have loved and cared for my little sister since the day she was born. I began babysitting outside of the home when I was 13 years old, where I would baby sit two children ages 7 and 4 on weekend evenings. In high school, I volunteered in my church's childcare program where I cared for up to 7 children ages 6 months to 8 years. Throughout high school, I would spend summers as a nanny to two children full time, ages 6 months and 2 years. In college, I volunteered at a hospital for sick and handicapped orphaned children. I also spent a week volunteering in the Dominican Republic working with a local school to help children cultivate healthy after school activities. More recently in my life, Read more my role as caretaker has taken on a new meaning as I have spent the last three years living with and caring for my grandmother who is in her 90s. I have a very nurturing personality and gentle heart that draws me to these types of experiences.
