In December I completed my dietetic internship and my course work for my master’s degree in Nutrition and Dietetics at Northern Illinois University. This spring I am studying for my exit exams to complete my master’s degree and become a registered dietitian. I received my undergraduate degree in nutrition from The University of Alabama. I recently got married and moved to Mishawaka. I am looking for part-time childcare work this spring while I am studying for my exams. I have been providing childcare since I was in middle school. I have cared for children ranging from newborns through pre-teens. I am comfortable watching 1 to 3 children at a time. During the summers of 2008 and 2009 I watched two families full time. One family had two children who were in first and third grade. I was responsible for providing their meals, entertaining them inside and outside of the house, Read more and transporting them to various activities. The second family had three children who were going into third, sixth, and seventh grade, and my responsibilities remained similar as the previous summer. I also implemented nutritional and cooking activities at least once per week. I also have experience caring for children through helping with vacation bible school and Sunday school for several years. During vacation bible school I was responsible for a group of 5-10 children usually between the ages of 6 and 10. I was responsible for keeping them under control and assisting them with the various activities. During Sunday school I helped the teacher of the 5-6 year old classroom. I played with them, assisted them with crafts, and helped deliver the lesson and pass out snacks. I feel it is important to be active. When I am caring for children I strive to find fun and entertaining activities for the children. I enjoy being outside and I also consider myself an artsy/crafty person.
