Hello, My husband and I are New Yorker that relocated to Indiana in 2014 for his job. I left my full time business career in NY to pursue a career in therapeutic massage. I've been practicing since and my schedule can be either feast or famine, so I am looking for another flexible position to fill my slower weekdays. I do not have any professional training or experience as a nanny/sitter, however after the last 22 years I've had plenty of non-paying experience of taking care of children. At my age of 8, my dad re-married into a young family, and I ended up with 3 young cousins - now the oldest is 22 and youngest 13. Plus the past 5 years, I gained 2 nieces & 3 nephews and 3 2nd cousins (ages varying from 6 months to 10 years old)... all of which I have cared for, played Read more with, and done homework with either individually or up to 4 kids at a time. 1 of my nieces has a mild case of Aspergers, and 1 of my nephews has stage 3 Neuroblastoma (cancer); I've given the attention and care they both need physically, mentally, and medically (under supervision or training first by nurse). I am a child of a deaf grandparent and a daughter of a sign language interpreter. I am not fluent in ASL, however I can read sign better than I can actually sign. I can be apart of and continue a baby/child sign language routine. I do prefer starting out with children under the ages of 12 - as my experience is not with teenagers. I can change diapers, feed with a bottle, cook basic meals; I am excellent in math and science (though I am not 100% familiar with the new common core education); I do have my own vehicle and I will work around dogs (no cats). I currently do not have an active CPR certification, but I can get re-certified if requested - as well as being First Aid certified.
