Hello! My name is Antonia. I'm the oldest sibling of four. My siblings are thirteen, ten, and six. Ever since I was thirteen, I have been very involved in caring for my siblings. My dad was in the Air Force, and often times a lot of responsibility fell on me. My parents follow Attachment Parenting. For my family, AP has meant a lot of different things. A lot of it is based on how we talk to children. My mom used to call it "Explanation Parenting." She believes that you can talk to children and explain things to them. For example, if a kid touches an outlet and you tell them not to because they'll be in trouble if they do, they'll touch the outlet as soon as they aren't being watched. We don't spank and we don't yell. We talk gently. I've noticed that, because my mom has been there for my siblings and I as much as we need, she has made us more independent people. I fully believe that children need to be cared for and talked to gently and sweetly. I did go to college for two years, and during that time I majored in Social Sciences. I did take a Child Psychology class during that time. I do not have any other official certifications or degrees. I have, however, been caring for my siblings and brother for as long as I can remember. My brother, in fact, thinks I'm one of his parents. I love kids and think they're very fun and interesting to be around.
