The saying, "born to be a mother" has applied to me from a very young age. Memories of reading to my stuffed animals pretending to be a teacher at the age of 6 was only the beginning of my passion. Working at a daycare for three years is one of the highlights of my life experiences. One thing I enjoyed the most was watching children grow and develop and being able to be a part of it. I have always encouraged independence and self growth in my children and love to see them prosper on their own. The look in a child's eyes when they know they have done something on their own is heart touching. On a daily bases I got the opportunity to work with children ages 6 weeks to 8 years of age. I fell in the love with the baby room but nothing could stop me Read more from working with the older children as well. I enjoyed being a "floater" and working with every age group. Some may say this may have prevented me from establishing strong realstionships with my children, but that couldn't be more wrong. Whether it be the daily hourly routine of the baby room, or the flexible schedule of the older age kids, I enjoyed every moment of them all. I enjoyed having "belly time" with immobile infants as much as structured center times with the older kids. When passion is such a strong part of the job, my days were never the same and I loved that. Though I lived and loved every moment of this job with a passion, that doesn't mean there weren't times of frustration. But when it comes to children of different ages, there comes different struggles related to each. But learning these and how to handle them in the best way possible left me with a great sense of accomplishment and pride. I'm blessed with an abundance of patience and this benefited me exponentially. Not only did I work in a daycare setting with a maximum of 12 infants with three other staff or rather 12 five year olds alone, I have also worked independently with a middle school aged girl who suffers from brittle bone disease. This disease causes her bones to be extremely brittle. This demanded an outside need of assistance in nearly every aspect of her life from daily functions of bathing, dressing, and tansportation, but also required help with cleaning, laundry, homework and companionship. This job inspired self growth and I couldn't help but see the beauty in life that some many others may take for granted. I loved and worked solely with this family for three years.
