My name is Loicy Bourque and I am a retired Dietary Manager/Cook and I do nanny work to supplement my Soc. Sec. I have a B.A. degree from McNeese University and an Associate Degree in Culinry Arts. After my divorce, I started college at L.S.U.E. because Eunice was my home town and I had always regretted not finishing school. I was a 9th grade drop out, but got my G.E.D. in 1988. I raised three wonderful children and was a stay at home mom, and now my children are grown and married. They also blessed me with five beautiful grandchildren who I adore ! While in college I worked with at risk youth at The Boy`s Sanctuary in Eunice, La. I was a youth counselor there and the boys came from the streets of New Orleans and on drugs. The court judge made it mandatory for them to attend A.A. Read more and N.A. meetings, however, they were so bad and rambunctuous at meetings, that they kicked them out and told them never to come back. So, my boss asked me to run the meetings and I agreed to do it . I heard stories that broke my heart and I had so much compassion for these boys and reall really wanted to make a difference in their lives. I trained with the National Guard and became a Cadre Trainer and then I was able to bring groups of at risk youth to the Nat. Guard camp in Slidell, La. to do Ropes Courses. This experience made quite an impact on them and inspired them to be better citizens. They learned how to be leaders and to be more compassionate with their peers. Not only did they inspire me to be their friend, but I realized what my mission in life was, and that was to be an inspiration to young and old people. So I continued my mission by being a Vista Volunteer where I only worked in Substance Abuse with the youth. I signed for two years while still in college. Through the years I have had quite a journey and I leared a lot about myself and others. I want to share my love, compassion, and work ethics with kids, and to be a good example for them. I have much love to offer families and hope to be a part of their family too.
