I have always had a passion for working with children that began when I was as young as I can remember! I spent much of my teenage years babysitting children of all ages, then worked as a camp counselor during my summers home from college. As a counselor, I strived to make each child feel safe and to value each of their individual personalities and interests. I graduated from Syracuse University in 2012 with a degree in Child and Family Studies and went on to work with children with an array of complex behavioral and emotional challenges. Sometimes I believe they benefited me just as much as I did for them. I loved working with them through obstacles they would face and to watch their increase in levels of self confidence that I saw in each and every child by the end of our time spent together. I continued to Read more pursue a career with children, but this time at Franciscan Hosptial for Children in a residential unit working with children with severe developmental challenges. This was one of the most challenging experiences I have ever had, but I learned so much from it. Working with children with autism and other developmental disabilities gave me a new way of appreciating the uniqueness that each child possesses, and the importance of allowing them to work in ways that are comfortable for them. There I also became certified in First Aid and CPR and my certifications are up to date. I am currently pursuing career in nursing, and taking online courses to meet the requirements to apply to programs in the Boston area. I would love to one day specialize in pediatric nursing and continue to work with children until that point. I consider myself to be extremely organized and responsible when it comes to my job. I like to go above and beyond in my duties and believe it is important to learn from the children I interact with as well. Every child is special and should be treated as such. I hope that I can continue to enrich the lives of your children too!
