Ever since I returned home from my trip to Ghana, Africa, I knew I wanted to take care of children. My trip to Ghana was one of the most eyeopening experiences. I worked with children in orphanages (through the organization "Hearts of the Father") who have no families to look after them or take care of them. I have also volunteered and was a mentor for children with autism through the "Anderson Center for Autism". This is not an easy job- you have to be quick to learn these kids and their ticks and be able to tend to their needs. Many of these kids that I worked one on one with were non-verbal, meaning that they were unable to communicate what they needed/wanted with words. This job was never easy. However, this experience was amazing and taught me a lot about myself. It made me become more observant, loving, Read more caring, mature, and quick. Ever since I was 10, I have had countless babysitting jobs. I have two younger brothers and was always told I had to watch them while my parents were out working or tending to their errands. I always loved that. Unlike a lot of other kids my age at the time, I loved to clean and cook- and help my parents out whenever they needed without asking. I have experience babysitting children any ages from 3 months to 12 years old. For the past 2 summers, I have worked two different sports camps (lacrosse and squash). I was a camp counselor to kids ages 5-14. I love teaching them what I know and working with them to improve as athletes and to improve their overall character. I currently play on the Women's Lacrosse team at St. Lawrence University. I will be a rising Sophomore next fall. Up at school, I was a volunteer at a local elementary school for underprivileged children who didn't have families that could give them the right attention. I worked with my eight year old "SLU Buddy" at least once a week for an hour and a half- tutoring them, mentoring, and playing with them. I loved knowing that I was able to leave a lasting imprint on this child. Feel free to contact me for more information!
