My name is Laurel and I am in the beginning stages of looking for a new full-time nanny job, starting in January. I am specifically looking for a local family with 1 or 2 infants in the Arlington area but would travel locally to bordering towns. I currently work as a professional nanny and have been nannying for a total of 5 years. I have been working with children in many different capacities for the past 20 years. I have experience with children of all ages and of many different abilities, including newborns and twins. I am incredibly safety oriented while also very being focused on helping children to meet developmental milestones and excel in their communication, whether spoken or visual. I am a proficient American Sign Language user and strive to teach children (and their parents) sign language so that they can communicate effectively before spoken language is possible Read more (or simultaneously) . In addition to teaching children communication and helping to meet their developmental milestones, I also find it very important to take kids out into the community to play, interact and learn. I know most of the sing-along schedules in the Somerville, Arlington, Cambridge areas. I like taking kids to classes (music, swimming, art, etc.), libraries, play spaces, museums and play dates, just to name a few. I also feel that it is important to let children play outside as often as possible. I have a passion for young children and watching them thrive is such an amazing aspect of being a nanny.
