Hi! I'm Leah McCabe, a 22 year-old college graduate from the University of Redlands in Southern California where I received my B.A. in Communicative Disorders with an emphasis in child development and early education. I have over eight years of experience working with kids. To me, "working" with children has never felt like actual work. It has always been something I find truly enjoyable and I am grateful that I can make a living doing what I love. I have been nannying for countless families over the years since I was twelve (and my younger brother since as long as I can remember). My early start to child care prepared me well for working at Lincoln Summer Day Camp, the volunteer work I do in local elementary school classrooms, and working with disabled children in clinical center's. I work well with kids in many settings, whether it's outside at camp, Read more in the classroom, at home or around town. I have a variety of skills ranging from cooking and cleaning to tutoring (I was a hired writing tutor at my university). Some of my other nanny specialties include, playing hide and go seek, board games, legos, drawing, putting on plays, swimming (I was captain of my high school swim team and have experience giving young children lessons), biking, playing cards, reading, making forts, cleaning up forts, giving rides and many more! I am not the kind of nanny to set up in front of the TV all day. During the summer I love to head outside and be active. I'm comfortable and have experience working with young babies to young teens, both boys and girls. I am full of energy and all about having fun. Kids brighten my day with their creativity and enthusiasm. I would love to have the opportunity to get to know your family! I am moving to New York City in early August and am hoping to start working right away. I am looking for apartments on the upper west side and hope to find a family not far from that area. I am originally from just outside Boston and have been going to NYC since I was a kid, so I know the city fairly well. (I'm first aid and CPR certified. I'm used to dealing with allergies whether it's to food or to something else. I have experience handling EpiPens).
