Education: -Master of Education (M.Ed.) from The University of Massachusetts Amherst: Graduated in May of 2013 after completing the TEACH 180 Days in Springfield Project, a year-long teacher preparation program that aims to immerse graduate students in urban school systems in order to provide a rigorous learning experience for future professional teachers. Met all requirements including passing the MTELs to obtain teacher licensure. -Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) from The University of Massachusetts Amherst: Graduated in May of 2012 with a Major in English -Diploma from Hudson High School: Graduated in 2008 Professional Experience: -Full-Time Classroom Teacher, August 2013-Present: I am currently completing my second year as a 5th grade teacher at the Arlington Middle School in Lawrence. This included planning and delivering lessons, attending parent-teacher conferences, adapting lessons for different learning styles, working with a range of students from various ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds, as well as maintaining a respectful and safe classroom environment. I also created and led a poetry and spoken word after school club open to all students grades 6-8. I regularly attended field trips as a group leader and chaperon. While working as a full-time teacher, I passed all graduate level courses required by The University of Massachusetts to complete this rigorous one-year program with a 4.0 GPA. Related Experience -Camp Counselor: During the summer of 2006 I worked as a full time mentor and counselor for a group of children ages 6-12, leading students through various activities including horseback riding, swimming, and creative arts. -Radio Operator and Bus Driver, February 2010-August 2012: While attending college full-time, I maintained a job at UMass Transit Services. My duties included supervising a fleet of thirty buses, overseeing travel procedures and communications between buses, passengers, and the station. I was also responsible for handling crisis or emergency situations.
