I was a long-time babysitter for a family with 4 children (aged newborn to 7yrs) for years. When I started college I decided to focus on my psychology degree. Now that I have graduated I am working as a part-time Behavioral therapist for children with Autism Spectrum Disorders and I am looking for the opportunity to once again make a connection with a family and babysit full time. I also spent 6 months volunteering at a homeless shelter as a Play -space Activity Leader for the homeless children. I basically got to play with them and watch them a few hours every week. It was, to this day, the most rewarding job I have ever had. I got to work with many different children with many different backgrounds and special needs including speech delay, and antisocial personality disorder. I enjoy reading to children and doing arts and crafts with them. Read more I don't hesitate to get on the floor and engage in imaginary play either! I often clean up around the house when the children are occupied and I have no problem preparing simple meals and snacks. If interested, I will help your children with their school work and engage them in as many educational activities as possible. I also enjoy the outdoors and would love to take your kids out to the park or for a walk. Pets are a plus. I have my own car. I have taken a number of developmental psychology courses in college. As well as a course called "family systems and theories" in which I learned a lot about the importance of pretend play for psycho-social development of children. I love babysitting because it gives me the opportunity to help children develop and to watch them grow. It also allows me to see the world from a different perspective (if the child is old enough to talk) and kids never fail to make me laugh. They are also very honest which is refreshing and a characteristic many adults could learn to develop! As much as I hope your kids will learn from me, I know I will be learning lots from them too! If you are looking for a professional, straight-edge, yet down-to-earth babysitter with lots of experience and knowledge, feel free to contact me and I hope to meet your family soon!
