4 years ago when my son was born, I tried for 6 months to find my own nanny. Disappointed at every turn, I decided to give up my professional career and stay home with him. At the time, however, my husband, then an audio engineer by trade, had returned to school to obtain a degree in electrical engineering. As such, we could not to afford to lose our second income, so in order to supplement that income and to socialize our son, I began taking one other child in to our home and in to my care full time. Over the last 4 years, I have been a nanny for 3 different families with children ranging in age from 14 weeks to 5 years. I parted ways with my last family after 2 years in their service only because we relocated to the Boston area from Chicago in January. I Read more hold a masters degree in History from the University of Texas at Austin. I speak fair German as a result of my time living in Germany as well as having studied the language in college and brushed up a bit with my son in classes at the German Cultural Center in Chicago, where I was offered a job as an instructor last year. I am CPR certified for infants and children. I do not, nor does any one in my family smoke. I believe that children learn best by doing: by engaging with their surroundings, whether on a grand scale with the wider world, or on a smaller scale with the minutia of their day. To a child, the simplest task can be a joyful experiment in wonder and curiosity. I have always considered it my job as a caregiver to be a strong and compassionate emotional anchor, an architect of adventure, and a facilitator of fun. As a result of our recent relocation to Boston, I am not currently employed and so my schedule is open to baby sit occasionally. Feel free to contact me!
