I am a 26-year-old Kindergarten Special Education Teacher. I enjoy hiking, running, reading, arts and crafts, and cooking. Caring for children is my passion! I believe caring and supportive relationships are most important to a child's development and I vow to bring positivity, patience, and playfulness to each job! Babysitting: I have experience caring for infants, toddlers, and young children. I value time spent with children and am willing to plan activities that your children enjoy (games, science experiments, arts/crafts, etc.). I spend the majority of my time playing and interacting with the children I babysit. However, when there is downtime, I am always willing to clean, do laundry, and prepare meals, if needed. I am open to any housework that is necessary! Day Care/Summer Camps: Many of my summers have been spent working in summer camps and day cares. My first job in a day care setting was as Read more a toddler and preschool teacher. The following summer, I worked as an infant teacher, which I loved! My responsibilities included caring for the basic needs of each child (feeding, changing, playful interactions, nap time, etc.). I also worked for an after-school program where I planned activities and provided homework help at the local elementary school. I then worked for the same program at their summer camp as a senior counselor for 5- and 6-year-olds. As a senior counselor, I was responsible for the safety of the children as well as planning games and activities. Teaching Field Experience: This is my third year working as a Kindergarten Special Education Teacher. I work with students who have moderate disabilities, including: Developmental Delay, Autism, and Communication disorders. I also work with many students who are not yet diagnosed, but display difficulties with attention, behavior, anxiety, and emotional regulation. As a special education teacher, I provide academic and behavioral supports throughout the day. I also plan individualized behavioral intervention plans and academic lesson plans. During my undergraduate career, I worked in PreK, Kindergarten, and 1st grade classrooms as well. During my graduate career, I worked with 7th and 8th grade students who presented with emotional and/or behavioral disabilities. I enjoy working with children of various ages, but my heart is in early childhood!
