Hello! My name is Danielle and I am senior at Trinity College. I am a Political Science major with a double minor in community action and neuroscience. At Trinity, I am on the varsity swim team as well as a reserach assistant in Dr. Sarah Raskin's Neuroscience Lab and a Community Learning Research Fellow. I will be examining how aging social stigmas influence individuals accessing mental health services and ways to make health care more accessible. In terms of child care, I am comfortable working with children of all ages. I studied abroad at the University of Cape Town and completed an internship at a public maternity hospital. I spent over 150 years providing basic care to social work infants and provided activities for mothers in the post natal ward.This past summer I returned to Cape Town to do field research for my senior thesis that will be examining the Read more social determinants of health that are not addressed in health care policy for HIV positive women and children in South Africa. When I returned from Cape town in late June, I nannied for two children ages nine and eleven for the remainder of the summer. Additionally, I have worked with children as young as 1 and as old as 15. I typically babysit for children ages 0-12; however, I am comfortable with all age groups. I lifeguarded at Pingree Day Camp and I interacted with children ages 4-13 on a daily basis. Due to my experience as a lifeguard at Pingree Day Camp, I am also comfortable working with diabetes, ADHD, and ADD. In fact, my brother is a Type 1 diabetic so I am comfortable administering insulin, using glucagon (in the case of an emergency), and testing blood sugar. My care giving philosophy is to ensure that the children I care for have fun, learn, and develop in a safe environment.
