I moved to Puerto Rico but previously made my residence in Maryland where my husband serves in the United States Army. I have extensive experience working with children and have worked as an independent nanny for the last 9 years. I have worked with special needs children and also multiples (twins and triplets). I have a strong work ethic, am well organized and very dependable. My style of care includes creating a good balance of play time as well as learning activities. I have a flexible schedule and am available to start quickly.

After a lengthy interview process, I hired Diani to be the nanny for our toddler son. We signed a two year contract. I offered to pay her a salary, but she wanted hourly and I paid her the rate she asked for. The biggest thing I asked of her was that she stay with our family long term because I work full time and was trying to have another baby, so I knew I would need support. She assured me she loved kids and didn't care about the pay as much. She wanted to be with a family long-term. She said all the right words. She just enjoyed working with children. She assured me she would be with us for the long-haul, she would cook for us, clean up, teach my son pre-school, etc. She seemed genuine, so I hired her. After a few weeks, she came to me and told me she didn't want to cook anymore, it was too hard for her. I was surprised, but agreed, and still kept paying her the same rate for less work. Then I noticed her work slowly declining--she wasn't preparing meals for my son, she stopped doing pre-school lessons, she hurt her back and needed the day off, etc. We were very accommodating. After 2 months she showed up one day and said she'd taken another job that would pay her more money, even though we had a contract. It just showed me she didn't care about our child, but about higher pay. She didn't even have a conversation with us, which I would have paid her more just to have the consistency. It was very disappointing and unethical and I would not recommend her as a nanny.
