I am new to being a manny rather than a babysitter, but have experience and knowledge pivotal to being a great manny and caregiver for a happy family. I have studied formative psychology extensively and have a formal educational background in philosophy and literature from St. John's College in Annapolis. I spent much of my childhood being both a supportive big brother and father figure for my little brother. I also babysat for a family with an infant and a four year old daughter, and also for my four year old cousin who has been raised mostly under the attachment parenting technique. Caregiving and being a both nurturing and instructive manny is something I have become very passionate about. Much of my work experience has been in offices as a paralegal and office manager but I realized that life can be very rewarding outside of an office and without climbing Read more a ladder. With my parents being workaholics, I grew up with nannies for much of my young life and made invaluable relationships with several nannies who I still talk too often. Because of this, I see the joy of having a nanny who can become part of the family and be a friend even after the work is done. After all, it's not really work if you enjoy what you're doing. I know very well that much of my experience may make it look surprising that being a manny would be something I am passionate about. I received my B.A. in philosophy which is a degree suited for becoming a teacher. My work experience points to pursuing law school or a Master's in Business. One day I think I may want to get a Master's and Ph.D in formative psychology. But I have come to realize that what I care about above all else is family and that I love children. Whether only two years old or in their teens, I care about children and ensuring that they receive a happy and supportive environment to grow up in. In short, I am serious and very passionate about being a manny, I have often been described as nurturing, great with children, a good home-maker, and someone who drives "like a grandma". I believe that a good home life and good role models help ensure a happy adult life for children and that a lot of children could use a big brother and manny by their side as they grow up. I can't wait to join a family in the DMV and begin helping a great home. As an aside: I am more than happy to do the grocery shopping, cleaning, cooking, and laundry on top of taking care of children.
