Hello! My name is Hayley Usilton and I am a sophomore Towson University student with a major in Business Administration and concentration in Human Resource Management. I am originally from Kent County, Maryland which is on the Eastern Shore. I love kids and have had a lot of prior experience with them in many different types of settings. I started babysitting at a very young age after taking the Safe Sitter Course at age 13. I mostly just watched my neighbor's children and the children of my mother's friends while in high school. The summer before my freshman year of college I began working as a camp counselor for Kent County Parks and Recreation. I have worked there two summers now for their Day Camp which includes children ages six to ten. In preparation for the summer we have a week long training session each year which includes CPR and Read more First Aid training, behavioral training, emergency training, and outdoors training(the camp is outside so we must know how to handle the heat and the sun so that the kids are always safe). We typically spend the day outside playing an assortment of games and doing a little Character Counts lesson each day. We also have a pool day once a week and a field trip once a week. The camp is very big- about 90 kids in total for six counselors. They are divided into 3 groups based on age with two counselors assigned to each group. Therefore, this means I am responsible for about 15 children on my own every day while working, so I'd like to think I can handle a big group pretty well. I also have a niece who is just a couple months old so I also have experience with infants. I love children and hope to continue working with them while here at school!
