Meet Eliza

My name is Eliza, I'm a twenty year old girl from a small town in Maine. Despite my humble beginnings I have always been an extremely curious about the world and eager to explore. I completed two years of higher education studying Anthropology and Political Science, I made the Dean's list all four semesters and was also admitted into the Honor's Program. Unfortunately due to dramatic changes to my families financial situation we can no longer afford for me to complete my education. This has not only prompted me to find well paid work so as to fund the completion of my bachelor's degree, but I also took it as an opportunity to travel. Over the past year I worked in Charleston, South Carolina saving up money to fund a five month solo backpacking trip through Europe. I recently returned from my adventure and am eager to start the next. Read more The experience of solo travel instilled in me a broader perspective of the world, a far higher appreciation and understanding of different cultures and new found vibrancy and excitement for exploration. This may seem irrelevant but I believe it sets me apart from other caregivers, I have a very creative and unique perspective on education and experience, something that I feel is quite valuable when interacting with and caring for young children. I've babysat for many years, taking care of children of all ages. In addition to this I worked for two years at a local daycare, helping develop new curriculums and taking care of the students. I also worked for five years as the assistant caretaker at my local Unitarian Universalist church. A religion which focuses on educating youth on the many different religions of the world, and fostering tolerant and loving individuals. I'll be honest I'm new at this nanny business but I think I have something quite real and authentic to offer. I'm young, energetic, eager to explore and learn more about my world, something that I believe to be quite beneficial influence on child's development. Of course the child I was caring for would always take priority in my life, and their needs would always be met. Their comfort and happiness would always be of the upmost importance. But something I find quite compelling is being able to witness and have some influence on a child's exploration as they learn about and make sense of themselves and the world.
