Children energize and delight me! I can't think of a better place to be than exploring the world with a child. I love being with children and began caring for them when I was 8 years old as a mothers helper. Throughout high school and college I cared for children privately, in day cares, and in summer recreation programs. In college I took early childhood development courses and education courses. I had internships working in pre-school programs and elementary schools. Then my career path meandered a bit and I spent many years working with adults and adolescents with disabilities. During that time I cared for children of friends and family and eventually raised three children of my own. I also ran an after school program for children in kindergarten through 6th grade. I now have two grandchildren that I cared for as infants but they live in CA so I Read more don't get to see them as often as I would like. To fill that gap I began caring for a little girl last year who is now 15 months old. I have enjoyed being part of her world and watching her grow. On any given day you will find us exploring the world from her vantage point. We may be following the hens; chasing a butterfly; digging in the dirt; collecting rocks; reading a book; dancing; or playing peek a boo.
