I have a passion for caring for children & helping them learn and grow. It is exciting to invest into their lives & also a joy to be able to make life easier for their parents. I have cared for children from newborn all the way to 15-year-olds who needed to be transported to activities. For each family I adjust what I will to do meet the interest of the children. I have watched children who love being artsy and doing crafts, others who enjoy science experiments, some who love baking and some who would love to go out in their yard and kick around a soccer ball. For the younger children I try to help them learn those beginning skills starting with shapes, colors, numbers and whatever else they may be learning. While caring for children I try to keep things fun; doing crafts and games geared to help Read more them develop fine motor skills, answer curiosities & help them learn. When I first started out I, along with 2 others, were caring for 3 preemies along with a 4-year-old. At 14 I would care for 5 children while their mother would run errands. For the past two years I have cared for a little one starting when he was 3 months old & now I care for both him & his 6-month-old brother. We go to library reading time geared towards toddlers then we also attend music and dance. On sunny days we go on walks & enjoy the local playground. I like to develop routines that work for each families schedule and help keep things consistent. In previous years I would care for many different families, the children's ages ranging between 6-14. I would helping with school pick up, getting breakfast lunch and occasionally dinner made up. Each job varied and included tasks such as dropping the children off at sports practice, staying with them while at their piano lessons, in the summer months we would find many things to do throughout the day including swim, tennis and golf lessons and also getting creative with games at home and day time adventures such as picnics to parks, making up fairy gardens or enjoying a good book. I have done light housework such as doing up the dishes that were gotten out during the time with the children and keeping the house tidy. I have completed the Red Cross course and am Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED certified until Nov 2017
