Hi! My name is Kelsey. I just returned from teaching English as a Second Language in a public elementary school in Korea. The program was government-run, requiring an FBI background check and drug testing. I spent two years at the school, where I taught English to 8 to 11-year-old Korean students during the school day. After school, I taught 6 to 8-year-olds phonics and beginner English. The class sizes ranged from 18-25 students, and I worked with a Korean teacher as well. My pedagogy involved games, fun and varied activities, and positive feedback. I also designed four themed summer/winter English camps that explored the curriculum in a hands-on approach. In my two years at the school, even though our communication skills were limited, I developed a bond with my students and now I miss them very much. I love seeing their development and progress.
