I have had experience with children my entire life. I grew up in a large family with a lot of younger cousins who I loved to look after. I started babysitting for families in my neighborhood at the age of 12. Since then, I have worked at several different daycare's working with children from 8 weeks to 6 years old, and multiple children at a time. I was primarily a teacher in the infant classrooms but floated around to other classrooms several times a week. While working at the day care I was a student at Eastern Michigan University and studied Elementary Education. I studied that for about 1.5 years where I decided though I love children and helping them learn and grow, teaching probably wasn't the profession for me. I started looking into the medical field and became very interested in the medical records side of the profession. I Read more then became a nanny for a family with a 3-month-old and was employed with that family for 2.5 years. They added another little boy into their family last January and I watched the both of them for about 6 months. I was offered a job as a medical coder in downtown Detroit for Karmanos Cancer Institute through a school internship, I unfortunately had to leave the family I loved to pursue my career. I luckily am now working from home as a medical coder and have a very flexible schedule and am looking for an extra part-time position. I am a current student at Schoolcraft College in their Health Information Technology program and am expected to graduate in May, 2016. I love what I do, but I've always loved working with children and helping them learn and grow. I would love to be able to mesh the two things I love so much.
