My passion is caring for children and creating exciting learning environments for them. I believe that children were created to learn and if we provide a creative learning environment, they experience learning as an adventure. I also believe that parents are the most important people in a child's life; I would, therefore, desire to work closely with the parents so they would continue their role as chief caregivers even when working outside of the home. I successfully raised two boys and two girls to adulthood. I helped each of them learn to read as preschoolers. I home schooled them through high school and also (with three other moms) coordinated a home school co-op where I taught a variety of classes including : Spanish, American Sign Language, Multimedia Art, and, my favorite, Lab Science (Botany, Biology, Human Body, Fun with Physics, Chemistry Lab, Space Exploration). I also did childcare in my Read more home for several years for a preschooler and an early elementary child. (References available.) I am a registered nurse with a current license and formal training in infant care. I have experience caring for special needs children and children with chronic or acute illness. I am organized, dependable, energetic, fun loving. Healthful eating is important to me, so I would prefer to help your child prepare and eat fruits and vegetables, rather than unwrap a Twinkie. I believe children grow best when they are not over scheduled with organized activities, but have plenty of free time to run, play, explore outside and pretend. I run, play, explore, and pretend right along with them. I am NOT a sit in a chair and wait for them to cry caregiver; I am a crawl around on the floor and play with them caregiver.
