I was most recently working part-time providing after-school care to 2nd - 6th graders, and absolutely love spending time with children. In addition to interacting with these kids on a daily basis and getting to know them individually, I provide homework help and plan activities for them to do when they finish their homework. We also take them outside every day (weather permitting) and have supervised play time. Maintaining open lines of communication with their parents is a must and is important to me. Thanks to my own parents and how they raised me, I am able to connect well with kids by meeting them at their level. I am a big guy with a big heart who believes that children are the most important thing in the world, because they are the future of our world. I have some prior experience in babysitting, having grown up with two younger Read more sisters (two and four years younger than myself), in addition to looking after neighbor kids who were friends of our family. I am a gentle and patient person with a fun side and a sense of humor, but I also expect kids to listen and to be respectful of one another, of other adults, of me, and of their toys/things, and I won’t hesitate to ask a child to stop doing something they shouldn’t be. Prior experience also includes assisting with a language immersion program for kids ages 5 and up during college (doing things like leading kids in sing-alongs and teaching vocabulary words through pictures). I am both First Aid and CPR certified for children and adults through October of 2017 by the American Red Cross and the American Heart Association and plan to get recertified at that time. As for my educational background, I went to Saint John's University in Collegeville, Minnesota, where I majored in Theology and minored in Secondary Education. During college, I studied abroad for a semester in Salzburg, Austria, where I discovered my love of travel and a passion for history. Since graduating from college in 2010 and before starting my current job, I spent a year volunteering in Israel at one of the Christian holy sites; was assistant director of a non-profit; and worked as a hall director in Residential Life at Saint John's. I look forward to the opportunity to speak with you about what you and your kids are looking for in a nanny, and hope that I might be what you're looking for: A big guy with a big heart!
