I have been a care giver for 14 plus years. Aside from loving children, this enabled me to always be available for my children. Now that they are grown, I devote my time to my husband and my "nanny babies". I have equipped my home with everything I need to care for a baby/child. I always start while they are an infant. Between 4 weeks and 4 months because it allows me to earn a trust and respect with the child and parents I also avoid dealing with problems created by caregivers that "didn't work out!" I do not believe in physical punishment. I believe that young children under age 3 do well with redirection and older, do well with praise, reward and if necessary, time-out. I don't believe that too much love and attention can spoil, however, I also know there are limits to giving in. (Which I let Read more the parents set).
