My name is Dominique Jenkins, and I’m a local makeup artist, photographer, musician and care taker! In my spare time, I enjoy reading, watching movies and writing songs on my ukulele! I am an extremely fun loving, energetic, charismatic babysitter/nanny. In college, I majored in Musical Theatre while maintaining the Head Nursery Attendant position at a local Episcopalian church. At this point in my life, I realized that children were one of my biggest passions. I started to incorporate music into the time I spent with my kids, whether at the church or personal babysitting, and it opened up an entire world of learning and creativity for my little ones and I was blown away by the results. Being a music nerd as well as a theatre kid has given me the ability to spend quality time with my children that doesn’t include too many electronics and bright screens. After Read more I get to know a child, I gauge what they’re interested in musically. Depending on their age and comfort level, there’s an endless list of possibilities that we can explore including: music theory, dance, voice lessons, guitar lessons and piano lessons. I also dabble in visual art. So arts and crafts time is my JAM! When it comes to discipline, I believe that communication is crucial, at any age. There’s never any reason to make a child feel like they’ve done something so wrong, that my relationship with them has been negatively affected. I’m very aware of how emotionally sensitive children are, and how much these years matter in terms of development. That being said, personally, I feel like it is important for children to understand obedience. Structure and obedience are fundamental to character building. There’s no singular way to teach a child to be obedient, but all my methods involve patience and figuratively speaking, a firm hand.
