I started baby sitting for my legally blind 3 year old sister at the age of 9.the State of Hawaii trained and certified me so that I could take care of my sister while my mother ran worked and errands. There was no stopping me after that, by the age of thirteen I was babysitting for multiple families in the military neighborhood. I loved it and I realize that children love me. Not only do children love me, they gravitate towards me. I have worked with children pretty much most of my life. I have taken in families in crisis as well as moved in with families in crisis, so that the children would not have to be removed from their families. I have raised two boys one that is now on his own at the age of 27, has graduated from college, has a great job and has just Read more purchased his first home. My youngest whom I home schooled until the age of 13, now is 24, is finishing school and is on his way to home ownership as well. I have just finished being a full time nanny to two absolutely wonderful and beautiful little girls from the age of 5 months and 22 months old to 5 years old and 7 years old . So now I am available part time. I am able to provide love, structure, security, safe boundaries, tutoring upon request, and respect. I use most day to day experiences as a teaching tool for development. I try to encourage children to explore and excel in the special talents and gifts that God has placed in them. I believe that being healthy makes for enjoyable childhood, I prepare healthy and nutritious snacks and meals when needed and exercise is a must; going to the park, walking , biking, and other outdoor adventures and on rainy days becoming creative. It is so very rewarding to watch children grow intellectually as well as physically…being a witness to them blooming into all that they can be. As I was checking over my profile, I realize that the category: age of children experienced with, for some reason did not register that have experience with new born to toddler as well as newborn to 18 years old.
