I am currently a senior at North Carolina Central University. My major is Family Consumer Science and my concentration is Child Development and Family Relations. I love working with young children. I have been working in the early childhood field for 8 years. I worked with ages birth- school age. I have been a lead teacher in a child care center, a floater, and an assistant director. While working in the daycare center I did a tremendous amount of nanny services and babysitting. I have NC Credentials 1 & 2, Before and After School certification, and Sudden Infant Death Syndrome training, and First Aid and CPR training. I also have a recent criminal background check. My philosophy of education is making sure I teach the whole child. Children have certain needs that must be met if they are going to grow and learn best. Some of the basic needs are Read more praise, positive guidance, nurture, and basic health needs. I would meet these needs by encouraging positive behavior and also by encouraging a child when they make mistakes or get a question wrong. Qualities that are important for teachers to have are dependability, patients, and also be able to nurture children to make them feel at home. The child should also trust the teacher because trust is very big in young children’s lives. I promise to be a positive asset to your child's life as their primary caregiver.
