Hello! I have a little over a year of unpaid experience as a live-in nanny/mother's helper for an infant and a 4 year old boy. My main responsibility was keeping the 4 year old entertained and busy so that mom could properly care for the baby. Other major responsibilities included light housekeeping, cooking, pet care and homework help. I had a private room with a private bathroom and was allowed to take the weekends as personal time when both parents were home. I would still be available if needed to help with meals or tidying up. Occasionally, I would accompany the family on a road trip or beach trip. Additional experience includes being an occasional weekend on-call/date night babysitter for a single father of a one year old boy. They lived in an apartment and I was mainly needed when the dad had to work late or went out on Read more a date. My main responsibilities were to ensure the child ate, had a bath and was in bed by a certain time. I also spent a short time in New Jersey helping out my sister after she had her second baby. This was also not paid but I stayed with her and her family for the duration of my stay. I acted mainly as an extra pair of hands, helping with laundry, light housekeeping, meal prep and basically anything she needed help with. I have done online training (but am not certified) through the American Red Cross Association in: -First Aid and CPR for Infants and Young Children -The use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) which is a machine that can drastically aid in the process of performing CPR on an infant or young child. I plan to apply for further in-classroom training and obtain certification in February 2018. I am not currently in school but considering pursuing studies in Early Childhood Care and Development. My main goal as a babysitter is to help kids to learn and grow in a safe, fun and educational environment and to ensure they enjoy a healthy balance of indoor and outdoor activities. I aim to help them learn and explore new and fascinating things about themselves and their surroundings.
