I am a mother of three kids, ranging from 10 to 15 years old. I am American by birth. However,the last 9 years our family have lived abroad and we have moved back to the States in January. Most recently, we lived in Australia for one year, but before that we called England home for almost 8 years! I graduated with a degree in Early Childhood Education from Oklahoma State University, and taught for a few years before staying home to raise my young family. Then our kids were in early primary years when we moved overseas My teaching qualifications and coursework did not transfer to the UK. I would have had to start almost completely from the beginning again in classes in order to teach there. So instead, I did lots of voluntary roles, such as being an assistant for our local Girl Scout (Brownie) group. Soon that led Read more to me becoming a Brownie Leader for a year. Then when my girls moved up to Girl Guides, I helped out as an occasional Parent Helper. The really fun part was getting to go on e week long summer camp with the Guides three years in a row! Our church hosted a Mom and Toddler Playgroup once per week, and for a few years, I lead arts and crafts, story time, and singing activities. Over the years in England I additionally volunteered in the library at my daughter's school. The last year before immigrating to Australis, I worked for pay part time as a Teacher Assistant, in a one to one role with a child to give him extra help in Math and Reading skills. Then while in Australia last year, I went to work at a local Pet Shop as a Shop Assistant. My oldest daughter joined our local Girl Guides group, and I then became involved as an occasional Parent Helper on evenings and weekends. As far as kids go, I love reading books to kids, and work with kids to read and write. I am artistic, I like to teach kids how to be a helper in the kitchen. I love animals as well! We have a Miniature Schnauzer as well as 2 cats in the home. At the Pet Shop I worked for in Australia, each night the puppies for sale in the store would go home with a family to be cared for overnight. I signed up for overnight puppy-sitting on several occasions. I've also cared for a dog in our home for two weeks while its owner was on vacation. I enjoy going on outings with my family and the dog.
